Justin and Haley Stevens: My blessings this week

SO, exactly as the title of this post says: Justin and Haley Stevens were a complete blessing this week! They took time out of work, school, and life to help me raise money for Ghana! They held a garage sale Thursday-Saturday and raised $420!!!!!!! I am so grateful to have a wonderful brother-in-law and sister! I also have to thank my family and friends of Haley and Justin for contributing. God is just so good! He has truly blessed me with the most supportive and loving family! Thanks again for all you guys do! I love you!

Continue to pray for the team and the people of Ghana!

Blessings,

GOD IS SO GOOD

I am so excited for the missions trip to Ghana! As the time to leave comes even closer, I am relieved to have so many check marks on my list of things to do.  The only things left are the final balance, a cell phone to use in country, and study abroad health insurance, all of which will be taken care of at the last minute.  I am so incredibly blessed! I am over my half balance and am continuing to look for ways to raise the last part of money. I am excited to see how God provides in this situation. He always works wonders, and I am thrilled to see what He provides next.  After getting some minor problems with my vaccines and passport fixed and behind me, I am relieved.  It is so nice to concentrate on the actual trip with so many preliminary things out of the way.  Continue to pray for me and the team! Thanks for all the support.  If you would still like to donate, contact me by email: Dana_Sellers@baylor.edu

Thanks and blessings!

SO MANY BLESSINGS!

God has truly been good to me.  He has blessed me financially for this trip.  I have reached my half balance for the missions trip to Ghana, Africa! This is a big milestone, and this all happened just in time, considering the half balance is due April 6th.  I was so excited to be so blessed by family and friends! God provides! I ask for you to continue to pray for the team and people of Ghana.  I am excited as the trip comes even closer! In about a month and a half we will be leaving. Pray that more support financially continues to come in! I know that God will provide! Thanks for everyone who has and is supporting me!

God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!

God's blessings!

God has truly blessed me with this opportunity to go to Ghana, Africa this May.  I am very excited to be making this adventure to spread God's love and word!  My family and friends have blessed me so much and shown me what wonderful people God has placed in my life.  They have donated $375 to my trip.  Terri, Michele, and Carson (family) helped me put on a garage sale this past week where I earned $200! I am excited to say that Haley and Justin Stevens, my sister and brother in law are planning to put on a great garage sale with tons of great stuff and ALL of the money will be put into the trip! WOW God is wonderful! I am so grateful for the love and blessings he has poured out on me! He is so amazing!

This week, I found out my old passport had been lost in transit to the Department of State office.  This means my new passport is being withheld until all the necessary paper work goes through, and I am needing it in less than 2 weeks for a Visa.  I was very frustrated finding out that this obstacle had been put in my way, and it was not my fault.  I then have to remember that God has plans for me in Ghana and will work out the situation.  I am honored, like Job in the Bible, that He would choose me to test.  My wish is that you would pray for the doors to be opened and that I will receive my passport in a timely manner!

Blessings!

Craziness

I am getting more and more excited about my trip to Ghana! The team has held two car washes and already have a couple more fundraisers in place.  I am also excited to already be having a response to my request for support from family and friends! I am truly blessed.  I will also be having a garage sale over Spring Break to get some extra cash for the trip.  The trip will cost $3500 and I am on my way to getting the funds!  I have begun to do more paperwork and such for the trip, and I will hopefully have all my shots and such taken care of by the end of break.  Continue to pray as the team and I raise funds, listen to God's voice, and live for Him.

What's next?!?!

        "What's next?"

This is a question I ask myself a lot.  Being in college and having things to do all the time, whether it is homework, hanging out, church, or various other activities.  I am always provided with something to do.  I ask, "What's next?" right after I am done with an activity, so naturally I will ask, "What's next?" throughout the process of getting to Ghana this summer on the missions trip.

The team has already planned some fundraisers, one of which is this weekend(a car-wash).  We also had a letter writing party last week in order to send off support letters to friends and family.  It was a blessing to have postage paid for! I am happy to report that the letters have begun to arrive at their intended destinations, within a week of being mailed, and responses are already being received! PRAISE THE LORD!

So, "What's next?"..... I have decided the next step is to continue to pray and keep focused on the ultimate task, to serve the people in Ghana and glorify God! I am excited to have a peace about this trip and the funding. I have not once worried about the finances and such, which is a HUGE thanks to the Lord! He will provide, and I firmly believe that if we do our part, to fund-raise, give, and pray for guidance, He will provide the rest.

Continue to support myself and my team in prayer!

GOD BLESS and LOVE!

Passports, fundraising, and other fun things...

Meeting with the team going to Ghana every Wednesday night is wonderful.  We have already put into place two car washes and a deal with McAlisters Deli where they will give us a percentage of their proceeds for a certain time period.  These and many more ideas for fundraising are getting me excited to learn, work, and grow along side the people on our team!
Another aspect of this trip is my expiring passport.  It expires in May, and therefore, it means lots of fun paperwork and extra time spent making this missions trip a go.  I decided to take my own passport photo to avoid an embarrassing photo I will regret 10 years from now when I realize I have to renew my passport, yet again.  I really enjoyed this process, because it gave me something to get all dolled up for on a snow day, and if I might say, it is a pretty good photo.  The comparison photo is shown on this post. :)
I ask that you will continue to pray for me in this venture, and pray for the team and people of Ghana, that we will be open to what God has planned.

GOD BLESS AND LOVE TO YOU!

Ghana

Hey everyone!

As mentioned in my first post, I will be going to Africa this summer, specifically Ghana.  I will be going in May, after this semester of college is finished.  I am so excited to have been accepted, since I had to apply and schedule an interview.  God has really blessed me with this opportunity to serve, love, and meet people here at Baylor. I can only imagine what He will do with our team when we reach Ghana.  Our team consists of about 14 people, 3 of which are not students but team leaders.  I am so excited to be on this journey of raising funds and building each other up in God's word through this process. We will be ministering primarily at a local orphanage, teaching and supplying their needs through love and Christ. Let me know if you would like to support us financially, and of course, be supporting us through prayer throughout the process! Thank you for all your support and love! God Bless!

Carpe Diem

"Carpe diem". Seize the day!

This phrase, given to us by Horace in one of his Latin poems, is a good depiction of what I plan on doing with my life.  I plan to live life according to God's will and purpose, and I will do my best to have the best time possible.  So many opportunities have been given to me in my lifetime, and I choose to take them and look for even more.  Yes, this is all very cheesy, but adventure and change is always waiting for us. It sneeks up on us, but I have found that sneeking up on it is a much more enjoyable experience.  Therefore, I have actually started a blog, mainly to give updates on my time at Baylor, my world travels, random nothingness, and my upcoming missions trip to Ghana(which you will see more about later).  I can't wait to just blab about random stuff on here, and actually have someone read it, maybe.  If not, then I still get to blab, which is positive, I think. I love you guys! Since I know this is probably only close friends and family who will read it.  :)

Props to Mom for inspiring this weeks verse: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."  -Jeremiah 29:11
